With so many companies (Virgin, XCOR, Armadillo etc.) now on the verge of flying regular paying customers to the edge of space and back, it's interesting to note that we don't know much about the edge of space. Not a lot of research has been conducted at sub-orbital altitudes (around 100 km up), so a great need has risen for research conducted by scientists aboard sub-orbital vehicles.
